Megalopolis (Peloponnese)

The ancient city of Megalopolis was founded in 371 BCE. It is well known for its theater which was one of the largest at the time allowing for around 20,000 spectators. In addition to the theater, you can still see remains of a temple to Zeus, an Agora, and a commerce building.

This pup actually greeted us at the temple I wrote about yesterday at Bassae, but I forgot to include him.

A spot with ongoing excavations.
