Thessaloniki

Tonight is our second night staying in Thessaloniki. It is another very large town in Greece at over 300,000 people. It is only half the size of Athens, but it seems much more full of life to me. I really enjoy it here; I think it's just the neatest town. It is also a port town, so it is very beautiful. I think I'm just going to have to journey to the port side of Athens, so I can think Athens is pretty too. The port is about 8 km away from where I'm at in Athens though, so we shall see. Anyway, back to Thessaloniki. The hotel we are staying at is nothing special, although I really enjoyed breakfast today. There was some meat and other tasty items. The town is full of historical things much the same as Athens. Some of them are right in the middle of town with just a fence around them but no formal guards or anything. Will post the pictures of the ruins at a later time, for now enjoy some pictures of the town.

These pictures are from last night, it was dark by the time we got out and about.

Here are some pictures of the day time, just before 8am to be exact.

And finally, here are some pictures of the town mid-day.

those boats are bars

The only animal pictures I got from today - fish. Sorry for the let down to those of you out there reading purely for the animal pics.
I'm still a day behind, so I'll recap the events of yesterday as well.
Yesterday, we visited a possible site of a school of Aristotle in Mieza, some tombs and a theater in Lefkadia, a museum and an agora in Pella, and the Thessaloniki museum, which we went back to today. The pictures of these places will be uploaded at a later time.

Thought for the day:
I have found some really interesting store names around, and have begun a little collection to make a post on. Such titles include Nail Me (a nail salon I unfortunately did not get a picture of) and Food Porn (a restaurant of course). Stay tuned for that.
I've also begun a collection of fountain pictures for a future post, but I just have to share one for today.
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, that is a young boy peeing.
