Akanthos was an ancient Greek city on the Athos Peninsula founded in the 7th century BC. The preserved ruins are walls, parts of the city’s fortification, ruins of walls, part of the acropolis, scattered architectural parts and
structural ruins of the Hellenistic period, public buildings, houses and
the foundations of a temple on top of the
hill.
