Akanthos

Akanthos was an ancient Greek city on the Athos Peninsula founded in the 7th century BC. The preserved ruins are walls, parts of the city’s fortification, ruins of walls, part of the acropolis, scattered architectural parts and structural ruins of the Hellenistic period, public buildings, houses and the foundations of a temple on top of the hill.

Some of the walls preserved measure 8m (26.3 ft).

Pretty view from the hilltop.
