Kalavyrta

Kalavyrta was our first stop on our trip to the Peloponnese. It is a historical site from WWII. Here all the men from the town (around 500) were taken up to a hill and gunned down. The site is a memorial to them. Also located here is a museum, which was once a school house. This school house is where the Nazi's locked the remaining women and children from the town, and then they lit it on fire. However, someone opened the door, and most were able to escape.

To the left, it says "no more wars" and to the right, it says "peace".

The names and ages of the men that died.

The hill where the men were gunned down.

The date of the massacre is written on the hill - 13/12/43.
